In recent research, scientists have stated that plasma has many effects on the sterilization of medical equipment, the elimination of cancer cells, the elimination of eye and bone infections, the treatment of skin diseases such as pyoderma, intrigo, etc. The main area for plasma application in medicine and veterinary medicine is the treatment of wounds. This method is known as cold plasma because it is produced at room temperature and pressure and does not require high heat. Methods: To produce cold plasma, a mixture of helium gas (97%) and oxygen (3%) is introduced between two electrodes and a voltage of several kilovolts and a frequency of 60 Hz are applied. The charged particles of the produced plasma cause severe damage to the bacterial cell wall in about a few microseconds. One of the important properties of cold plasma is that: it works at atmospheric pressure (air); It is non-thermal and does not pose any danger to living beings after radiation. Three important factors cause its antibacterial and disinfecting properties, which include: creation of free radicals and reactive ions – ultraviolet radiation – impact of energetic particles on the surface. Conclusion: The use of atmospheric cold plasma in wound healing, while not harming the adjacent healthy tissues, can destroy harmful bacteria and disinfect the wound, and helps to heal the wound as quickly as possible.
